Lab Practices - an interactive activity

Are you interested in doing a lab experiment from home? Join this interactive activity session to learn how to set up your own at home biology lab!

Our first experiment? Plant organ dissection! Students will learn important techniques to set up and perform successful experiments such as aseptic technique and lab notebook etiquette.

Open to Grade 9-12 and undergraduate/college students.

Please note the list of materials required - if you are unable to obtain these supplies, you’re welcome to attend regardless!

Materials Required:

  • White vinegar (or other types of vinegar)

  • Water

  • Tweezers

  • Ruler (or measuring tape)

  • Kitchen knife (something small e.g., butter knife)

  • Paper towel

  • New notepad or notebook

  • 1-2 fruits/vegetables of your choice (e.g. banana, cucumber, pepper, eggplant, tomato, kiwi, orange, lemons, okra, etc.)
