OPTIONAL - Activity supplies (try it with us!):

  • 5 big clear cups, ideally of same size (heat-resistant, e.g. glass)

  • 5 Yeast packets (any kind of yeast)

  • Sugar (about 5 tablespoons)

  • Hot water (have kettle on hand or use stove/microwave)

  • Warm water

  • Cold water

  • Plastic wrap

  • Spoon

  • Tape (that will stick to your cups)

  • Pen or marker (to write on tape)

  • Pen and paper

  • Ruler

In this session, youth will participate in an interactive workshop led by a researcher from the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Youth will learn about cell metabolism in healthy and diseased cells, as well as how cells make energy. This workshop will teach youth why metabolism is important to how we study cancer.

Open to Grade 9-12 students. Certificate-eligible event!
